The YMagnify Library

Foundations

Plain definitions of the things that matter in financial markets — written to be read in a minute, not a semester. No jargon defended by more jargon.

Every entry ends the way most textbooks refuse to: with a note on how the concept behaves when there is real money on it, and where people usually lose it. That part is why this library exists.

Free. No signup. No gate. Read what you need and get back to work.

Risk and Return

If you read one page in this library, read this one. Bonds, IPOs, chart patterns, macro — all of it is downstream of understanding what you are actually being paid to take on.

Most people can define risk. Far fewer can size a position around it at 3pm on a red day. That gap is where accounts are lost.

How to use this libraryNew to markets? Work the tiers in order: Ground Level first.

Already trading? Skip to Tier 03. That is the part nobody taught you, in order.

Short on time? Each entry is a brief, a one-minute read. Take the RealityCheck note even if you skip the rest. It will give you just an overall perspective.

Details Matter. Context Matters. For this, Subscribe to our Publication – details below!

Tier 01

Ground Level

What the market is actually made of. The instruments, the venues, the mechanics. If these four are shaky, nothing built on top of them holds.

1 min read

Capital Markets

How capital moves between those who have it and those who need it — and why that plumbing decides what your assets are worth.

RealityCheck noteMost retail losses start with treating a market as a scoreboard rather than a mechanism.
1 min read

Stocks and Shares

What owning a share actually entitles you to, and how to read a chart without inventing a story that is not there.

RealityCheck noteA chart is a record of other people’s decisions, not a prediction.
1 min read

Bonds

What they are, how they pay, and WHY the bond market usually notices trouble before the stock market does.

RealityCheck noteBoring until it is not. Duration is a risk you carry whether or not you understand it.
1 min read

IPOs

How a company comes to market, who gets paid at each stage, and how to evaluate an offering being sold to you.

RealityCheck noteEvery IPO is someone informed selling to someone less informed. Price it accordingly.
Tier 02

Reading the Market

Two ways of forming a view, plus the context that bounds both. They are both important for the final decision.

1 min read

Technical Market Analysis

What price and volume can tell you, what they cannot, and the failure mode that costs the most money.

RealityCheck noteTechnicals FAIL when you use them to justify a position you already have. This is not how you stay successful long term.
1 min read

Fundamental Market Analysis

How to judge what a business is worth rather than what it is quoted at – and why being right is not enough.

RealityCheck noteSolvency of the thesis is not the same as solvency of the account. Check what it means here.
1 min read

Global Capital Markets

How regions, currencies and rate cycles connect and WHY a decision in one time zone lands in your book in another.

RealityCheck noteStress is when everything you own turns out to be the same trade.
1 min read

Financial Regulation

WHO sets the rules, WHAT they are for, and HOW regulation shapes what you are allowed to do and what it costs.

RealityCheck noteNobody reads the rules until the rules cost them something.
Tier 03

Surviving the Market

The part that decides outcomes. Not what to buy — how to stay in the game long enough for being right to matter.

1 min read

Risk and Return

The trade-off underneath every position you will ever take and what you are genuinely being compensated for.

RealityCheck noteRisk is a thing you feel, badly, at the worst moment. Prepare for the feeling.
1 min read

Emerging Trends

Fintech, new products and technological change – what is structural and what is a story wearing a chart.

RealityCheck noteNew does not mean uncorrelated. Most innovation trades are beta with a better narrative.

Position Sizing & Risk Management

How much to put on. The most underrated decision in trading, and the one made fastest and worst.

RealityCheck noteYou cannot control whether you are right. You can control what being wrong costs.

Drawdowns: Anatomy of a Losing Trade

What happens – mechanically and mentally – from the moment a position turns until you close it.

RealityCheck noteWritten from the uncomfortable side, because that is the side that teaches.

Two more entries are being written.

Position Sizing & Risk Management, and Drawdowns: Anatomy of a Losing Trade. Subscribers get them first, along with the weekly analysis and RealityCheck.

FAQ

Common questions

Is the library really free?
Yes. Every entry is open, indexed, and requires no signup. There is no gate and no partial paywall. Certified Economists worked hard to structure and to sketch the basics of this complex domain. This is just a base, there is more to learn and you can do this by joining the YMagnify community (all links are on the front page – https://ymagnify.com ). The paid work sits elsewhere, but we built this free library because we think everyone should be able to read the basics, only what matters the most, without the noise.
Who is it written for?
Anyone who needs the vocabulary to be useful rather than ‘fancy’. Beginners can work through the tiers in order; experienced readers usually skip to Tier 03, which covers the material that is rarely taught. These are just guidelines. You decide what how you learn best and if you need more information, beyond what is shown here, in the free Library.
Why does every entry have a RealityCheck note?
Because knowing a definition and handling the thing under pressure are different skills and only one of them protects your capital. The note is where we say what the textbook leaves out.
How often do you add entries?
New entries and revisions go out as they are finished, and subscribers are told first. Every page carries the date it was last reviewed so you can see what is current. Subscribe and Upgrade your knowledge. You have nothing to lose, only to learn – in a structured, simplified way.
